Beginner Lessons
Learn the fundamentals of standing up and staying safe. The lesson includes 20 minutes of instruction on the sand, we cover essential paddle techniques and ocean basics. This is followed by 1 hour with an instructor in the water to practice skills, and an additional hour on your own with the board to reinforce what you’ve learned. The lesson also includes fruits, water, and a beach chair for your comfort.
Progression Lessons
Improve your stance, learn to read wave sets, and start making your first controlled turns in the warm tropical lineups of MA. Spend 1 hour in the water with an instructor, paddling out to the lineup together. You’ll learn how to paddle correctly, handle rip tides, and take waves on your own. The lesson also includes fruits, water, and a beach chair for your comfort.
Advanced Coaching
Refine your style with technical coaching and performance maneuvers during 1 hour in the water with an expert instructor. Learn to read waves, master left and right turns, and practice advanced arm and leg techniques. The lesson includes fruits, water, and a beach chair for your comfort.

What is the minimum age for surf lessons?
Our lessons are designed for young adventurers aged 5 and up. For children, we prioritize water confidence and fundamental board skills through play-based coaching, ensuring a safe and joyful introduction to surfing in Manuel Antonio.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to take a lesson?
While you don't need to be an Olympic swimmer, basic comfort in the water is required. Your local instructor remains by your side in waist-deep water throughout the session, selecting beach breaks that perfectly match your comfort level and safety needs.
What exactly is included in the lesson package?
We provide all the essentials: a high-quality surfboard tailored to your level, a comfortable rash guard, and a leash. Each session includes expert coaching from a local pro and refreshing tropical fruit snacks to keep your energy high after catching your waves.
What items should I bring with me to the beach?
Just bring a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle. We recommend wearing comfortable swimwear that stays secure while you move. We'll handle the rest of the gear and logistics so you can focus entirely on the session.
What happens in case of bad weather or cancellations?
Tropical rain is a local experience and usually doesn't stop the fun! However, your safety is paramount. If conditions become dangerous due to lightning or giant swells, we will reschedule your lesson or provide a full refund if rescheduling isn't an option.
